| Lao Pako is an ecotourism lodge located on the Nam Ngum River, about 50 kms from Vientiane, the capital of Lao. This Austrian owned eco-resort on the banks of the Nam Ngum River provides a peaceful environment to recuperate from the pressures of traveling. On entry, the large display cabinet holding exquisite silver trinkets will catch the eye (and maybe the wallet). Relax and sip a drink from the balcony of your riverfront bungalow or watch the sunset from the open-air restaurant. Expatriates find this a convenient and comfortable weekend escape as it is a great spot to unwind for a few days. There is a wonderful herbal sauna, great outdoor bar, bush walk and lots of flora and fauna to investigate.
The resort is constructed almost entirely from native materials using local techniques combined with European comfort. A Lao style longhouse contains three double rooms, each with private ensuite facilities and mosquito nets, and a seven bed dormitory with a shared bathroom.
The separate bungalows are for people who prefer privacy. Two beds with mosquito nets and ensuite facility are combined with large, comfortably furnished veranda.
Lao Pako bar is the meeting point for all the guests. Visitors from abroad can meet local expatriates living in Lao while having a cold drink. The local beer is not expensive and excellent! From the Lao Pako restaurant you get the best view of the river and the sunset is magnificent. The restaurant serves Lao/European dishes at reasonable prices. Any special requests can be catered for with 2 days advance notice.
Parties for special occasions, workshops and seminars can also be arranged.
